Cold weather socks

I just ordered a pair of Alpaca socks based on this thread (from Purely Alpaca). I already have an Alpaca sweater and it is incredibily warm for it's lack of bulk. Looking forward to using them for hunting Thanksgiving week.

Smartwool is a decent choice but for overall thickness, warmth, etc. I recommend the Danner Pronghorn. I've got two pairs of the Smartwool Mountaineering extra heavy and three pairs of the Danner Pronghorn Heavy weight 15" and I like the Pronghorns just a bit better.

I'm a fan of merino wool socks (usually smartwool). You can find the socks in a variety of thicknesses. Make sure that your boots don't fit so snugly over your socks that they restrict your blood flow to your feet. Warm blood circulating through your feet help keep them warm.
