Doubt. Bought mine at Cold Steel importer for my country - the most legit place where I could get it.

Sadly that is the way they are...
 
Mine came from a LGS that carries name brand stuff like Boker, Tops, and ZT. I think the knives are just sometimes kinda crappy.

I've never seen a loose one. if I read it right you bought direct from cold steel? I'd send it back and buy next one through a good dealer. if you get another bad one, it's much easier to work through a dealer than gsm. they are the worst on warranty I've seen in this industry.
