I got this axe last Christmas & this is the 2nd time it's been used. A large limb broke out of my Bradford Pear tree from the heavy wet snow we got Last Fri. The temp got up in the lower 40's today so I took the trail Boss Axe out to cut the limb into smaller sections. After I finished chopping the Tree up (I also used my little Wetterlings Wildlife axe for the smaller stuff) I went to get my RemOil to clean my tools back up when I noticed this -

I'm gonna E-mail ColdSteel & send them some pics & see what they have to say !:thumbdn:

Man that sucks !
They must've really messed up with the temper to have the axe crack from a piece of wood :(

It'll buff out :D Call Cold Steel. I am sure they'll make it right for you. Still sucks though for the moment.

Lameness! I hope that Cold Steel sets things right. That's totally unacceptable.

Best,

- Mike

man that sucks this is the second time i heard of the trail boss breaking whats up with cold steel ?

I have a question, coaldigger. Does the crack go all the way through the blade, or is it just on the surface on one side?

That would ruin a day. Hopefully Cold Steels customer service takes care of it for you

i'm sure you will get a new ax. the problem with cold steel anymore is they are more hit and miss with the quality control than they used to be. that sucks because they have alot of nice designs.

Kind of looks like that was a bad casting. I will never buy any axe with a cast head.

Yep...it goes all the way thru ! Looking at it from the edge it looks kinda like a tore piece of paper ! Looks like you could pinch it with your fingers & just tear it on apart ! :thumbdn:

Holy crap! Those picture make me want to :barf: I'm sure you'll get a new one. While their QC may have diminished over the years, their customer service has vastly improved. :o

Whoa. Bummer: you're not going to be simply buffing that one out. Hope they take good care of you.
