Go get a Wetterlings man ! :D

I've beaten the living hell out of my 19'' Skining Axe and it keeps asking for more. It's a great tool

I'd suggest a Snow & Neely Hudson Bay as a replacement. Now, I gotta go out and chop something frozen :D

Hey, on the bright side, Mentor's eye was nowhere near the vicinity :D

That bites, at least you weren't in the field.

After they replace it I'd consider moving it down the road and getting something else.

Stupid question, but how can one tell if it is cast or forged or whatever?

You can generally see small dimples or pits on the head where the casting did not totally fill. Whenever an axe has a painted head, I`m really suspicious, and look very closely.

That is a downer, I was kinda looking at these as a cheap entry into the axe game, but I might just jump into it with something higher end instead.

I got an E-mail from CS customer service today...they want me to ship them the Axe so they can figure out what happened & will let me know from there:thumbup: So I'm gonna try to ship it out Sat.
I'll let you guys know how this turns out !

My grandfather taught me to warm an axe under my arm before using it in the cold. We heated with chopped wood. The axe never failed. I think he didn't want it to chip out. I'm sure they will make it right. Warm the next axe first. It may help if out in the bush.

The cold was not a factor IMO...the temp outside was in the low 40's. At least I wouldn't think so:confused:

Hey Loosearrow thanks for the tip about warming before tackling frozen wood. Coaldigger is it possible there was an old nail in that tree? Hope CS makes it right for you. Good Luck.
