anyone have input on coleman flashlights quality versus similar fenix products? I imagine the quality is better but is the price really worth it if you just want a bright flashlight that will turn on when you need it?

If you just looking for a light that turns on when you need it, a coleman, raovac, dorcy is fine. But its the same with knives, sure a $2 kitchen knife will cut, but why not have something nicer?

Thats where Fenix, olight, Surfire and Nitecore and many others come in, power, heavily built lights that last. Varying out output, durable finish, varied models some better for hunting, some better for fixing a flat on the side of the road.

So yes, a coleman will be fine, but if you've got the money, why not have a RAT over a Smith in wesson knife?

Well, it really depends on which ones you are looking at. I'm guessing you are referring to their regular line, which is in every department and outdoor store known to man. Yes, those are some generic yet quality and dependable flashlights.

Now, their Exponent line is a completely different beast. You will probably never see the Exponent lights in any store (the brick and mortar store for the online business I used to manage is the only place I have ever seen them). Their little mini headlamp is easily my favorite lightweight headlamp, with its 80 lumens, good battery life, comfortable fit, and multiple levels. It blows away the competition in the small and light headlamp area. They also have some pretty cool flashlights that have a CREE LED in the center and five red LEDs around it. Very cool feature that you do not see in many lights and the build quality on them is very high.
