Collecting for hobby not investment

I came to the same conclusion as you Lisa.

I know what I like and am never happy if I stray from that just to suit someone else's opinion. My passion is for Classic Wood inlays and some LE's (all pre IM stamp).

While continuing to look for a Moonsong is reasonable, I have suggested that she take what she really likes about the Moonsong, and make it better by ordering a unique. And hey, have it engraved, "1 of 1".

Here is a Moonsong for you. These are not my images. I borrowed them from the maker here. I have no affiliation with the source other than having learned of them by bidding on one of their products from a third party on ebay. Pretty cool though, eh?

This is within the scope of the rules, I hope.

it's normal to change, even those pieces you say you'll never part with
Maxx
I now realize that collections are ever evolving, as I have sold some I didn't think I initially would.

As usual Lisa, beautiful collection.
Thank you :)

I agree that this hobby should not be done as a investment, but looking back to 2008 I think Chris Reeve knives have held their value with far less risk then the stock market.
I hear ya!

Maybe I am miscounting, but seems you (Lisa) have more Large than Small in the not necessarily carried collection.
True, more large than small and not carried.

I see you still need a Moon Song
So true.

Lisa those are some very beautiful knives, thanks for sharing
Thanks for clicking into this thread. :)

I really began to enjoy the hobby more once I decided to buy what I liked and not buy what I thought would hold resale value.

I am getting VERY close to that point, in fact I may pursue that by next week.

^^Jan1 you are going to have Lisa up at nights hunting
that Moonsong down.....LOL
For this week only...then on Monday, I'll make the call to Idaho as I do like one of one :D

Thanks for sharing Lisa.
Those are beautiful knives. :)
It is a wonderful collection.
Thank you for clicking in! :)

This is a good thread, always buy with the heart not with your head, I totally agree.

As long as you're happy with the knives(or whatever it might be), that's all that should matter.

Beautiful collection Lisa. Thanks for sharing it. I've only got a couple of Sebbies right now but I can feel the pull. Seeing your collection doesn't make it any easier:)

Hi Lisa -
In post #15 - under the Smalls & Umfaan pict, the bottom knife looks to be much smaller than the rest of the smalls. What knife is this? I think the size is quite perfect for me.
Thanks,
DS

That's the smallest knife ever made by CRK ... the Umfaan.

Thanks! - I will have to pick one up. - Seems pretty hard to find - If any one has a plain unfaan they would be willing to part with, please feel free to let me know!
Best,
DS

They are difficult to find. It would be best to start a thread in the "Wanted to Buy" area of the Exchange.

Good luck in your search.

Thanks for the assist, MVG is right, the Umfaan are harder to track down and a "Want to Buy" might help.

Having to sell my CRK's these past few months has been tough.

Decorated Umn - paid $1700 - sold for $1400
Umn Proto - paid $1650 - sold for $700 + lrg diamond plate seb in trade
Small P Seb - paid $750 - sold for $600
Large P Seb - paid $800 - sold for $700
Mnandi proto - paid $850 - sold for $550

i haven't been looking to profit from selling these but i also haven't expected the losses to be so much.

Sorry to be a downer in your thread Lisa.

I've seen a few of your sales. I really wanted that Umnum Proto....
