Collecting survey

i collect whatever i find that i like but my favorites are the Mentor and the Mini-Mentor. I like them for the simplicity of the design.

Whatever I like. Mostly the "upper end" or limited editions. This year the Damascus Paradigm (0336BKSLE-B) and the Prickly Pear cactus Bucklock (0532CASLE-B). These two were added to my "hold and save" knives, but I also bought about 7 or 8 others for my "use" knives.

112s. Because I am a deer hunter and they seem to be easier to handle than a 110. Also I try to use everything I collect so I don't buy show pieces.

112's The proportions seem to be just right for me and the quality/durability is amazing.. Especially like the bareheads like my WBC Ram's Horn and BCCI editions...

Matt,
Your reaction to the comments made in this thread is shared by the BCCI leadership. We have offered several of the other models but the 110 is ALWAYS the best seller, both in numbers and in the rapidity of orders that arrive. The 112s are also popular but significantly less so than the 110.

Like most others the 110 and 112. I really like the 5" lockback design and have quite a few made by different companies. I have Bucks to compare the others to. Like the 112 because of the size is more work friendly.

It took me a few years ( 1960 -2005) of knife collecting before I focused hard on the 122/124 BUCKS.
Still looking for a few 122/124's and always keeping my eyes open to upgrade my collection.

Although I pointed out a fact that should seem odd, by no means does it surprise me. This forum page has always had a huge 110/112 following. I think its the small portion of folks that don't want the 110s and 112s that throw such a stink at the BCCI offerings. I personally don't collect 110s although whats a BUCK collection without a few. For people who don't like Pot Roast, eating it more than once a year is a chore, but for those who do, eating it every Sunday with Potatoes and Carrots is being Happy, Happy, Happy.

When I started this thread, I suggested just giving one area of interest, which for me is the early 110s. However, I have started on a second model: the 102. I think it's a classic design and I am slowly accumulating 102s that show the variety of handle materials used over the years. Some of them will be hard to find and probably a little pricey, but I'm not in a rush. Anticipation is half the fun of collecting.

I'm just rediscovering my like of Buck Knives. I have recently focused on the 100 series fixed blades. I have always liked having a few of them.

Recently, I got my first 110. It won't be my last. I just got a Squire in the mail. I want to go in so many directions...... I will say that my collecting will be all over the board for a while. Works for me.

I like the 501 and it's 2.75" blade siblings. I've enjoyed it as an edc for many years and find it to be an all around good knife, so I've started collecting them.

I love the 102, and have a complete set of Phonolic handled knives from 1961 thru 1985. In addition I have two pre factory 102s, one has a Gaboon Ebony handle and the other has Lignum Vitea. I'm always looking for others to add to the collection. I have a few of the more recent handle materials such as CoCobolo, redwood and and Orange Wood. The 102 is the most versatile knife in the BUCK fixed blade line up. You can process game, filet fish and complete camp chores as well. Its my favorite...

What is a 110 ? ~(: - }

Oh, I remember a big ole heavy knife.....I've got three.

300's - If any stags come out then I perk up, otherwise I am always looking but seldom finding the odd-balls. Once-in-while I rescale one and play with it for a few days. I am seeking some 'holy grail' 300s that I likely will never find.

But, I will own up to my reality, day in and day out you will likely find a little 345 Avid Vantage in my back pocket. I especially like the ones that have light grey scales. I am working on learning to rescale those, but it is a rough road. I just want a nice stag and a jigged bone one.

300Bucks,

I have to admit that in the past year I have bought three older 300s. Don't tell anyone.

301

I don't collect just the basic 301's either. I only have two 301's, a recent production black delrin anvil shield 301, and a 301X BB with bone scales. The bone scale model is one of my favorite stockmans, and I have been looking for the long pull, older make 301's made by Camillus, and Schrade if I am not mistaken.

I also remember the custom shop 110 with damascus blade and stag scales that I traded, and wish I still had. I am not actively pursuing the Custom Shop or Yellowhorse pieces, but I really like those, and might try to pick up a couple. I just had to look at a couple 110 collections at shows, didn't I ;)?

I don't have a collection. ChickenTrax would call it an accumulation.
An eclectic accumulation at that. But yeah, 50 or 40 110's give or take . Some 112's. some 560's, couple fist fulls 121's, few of the 805 SS, Few Mentors. a Trio set, Couple of 106's, this baggie of 300's, Bunch of LE fixed blades, other various miscellaneous, and this 10 piece Cherry/Stag Klink set of the 100 series.

I recently inventoried my guns and went into shock. So not going to do that with the knives.:o

While the 110s are incredibly popular I will also give the nod to the Alpha Hunters for their beauty. I like them all but I can't say that.
