What is your collections theme? My meager collection is just a hodgepodge of knives. A few NYK's,a whittler and a jack. I have 3 whittlers, the NYK, a Case XX by queen and a Hen norfork whittler...in stag. I have three stags, the Hen, another Hen, and a Browning bird and trout trapper(nice knife).Several pens of various materials and manufacture.I seem to have the most pens. Just seems like there is alot out there in flea markets and antique stores around here.I guess that I don't have any themes, but have leaned towards a few in the many years of looking for knives, like whittlers and stag.I just say if it's old, it's for me.
I get sick at thinking about the few I let get away.A couple of Al Mars,an ofsprey and a large finger grooved midlock with white micarta and a barlow like bolster.Whats that worth now?I think I paid $75.00 new.A Samual Barlow small razor blade barlow dating back to the late 1700-1850.A Schrade small lobster in pearl.....sorry.....I'm on a rant.

I have found that collecting a specific type or brand costs much more than just collecting old knives. I guess if there is a theme to my collection it is oddball brands and knives with a connection to Michigan. - Dan

I guess thats what I do.Some of the people here do specific brands and patterns. It looks pretty cool to see a row of old barlows lined up.If some of you have good themes for lack of a better term feel free to post 'em up. Please.

Couple of obsure brands here. A Vom Cleff to the left and the pearl is a Climmer and to the right a CM Mclung. After posting this the McClung is going into the mieral oil.

As most of you know.... I mostly collect older Sheffield-made knives. I also like knives with corkscrews and have few miscellaneous others aswell. I also collect corkscrews.

They're supposed to have themes?

Okay then. Well most of mine have blades. ;) :p

I used to have an Anhauser-Busch corkscrew of a bottle that unscrewed in half.Wish I had it today.

I fight the urge to reshape the broken blade on the McClung. Whats the rule of thumb? leave it alone?

Hi navihawk, I have one of those Busch bottle corkscrews. Unfortunately no pics on file and it is dark here already. Those were patent by Williamson of Newark NJ in 1897. Tough call on the broken blade. If you are going to use it then go ahead.

If it's a user, why not turn it into a coping or sheepsfoot bade, or a screwdriver? That way you don't alter it much.

If I remember right it had the patten stamp on the bottom or side.Corkscrews are as unique and varied as knives. Post some up if you have photos.

What I like about these small ones is the grind in the small blades.

Thank-you very much for your compliment and question navihawk. Let's continue this on the corkscrew thread.

This is a display of older Sheffield mop handled knives I've been working on. There are 1,2,3 & 4 blade knives and some with various attachments e.g., scissors, button hooks etc. The case is oak with a glass cover and navy blue background. It is difficult to take a good photo. I have close-ups of most knives if anyone is interested.

Nice display smiling-knife. I'd love to see some photos of old pre-SAK sheffield knives with all the extra tools, if you have any.

Exquisite collection s-k! Nicely grouped/displayed. That is what this knife stuff is all about.
