Ok I need some input from you collectors. I am working on a run of 11 of my Thanos Bowies for Wilson combat. I am looking for input as to what the preferred handle material would be for most collectors. My original had Koa on it but high quality koa in the sizes I need are rare and very expensive. What woould you like to see on it if you were to purchase this knife? Here is the bowie for reference. The run will also have a hamon on them.

Roasted flame maple. They use it in guitars. The idea is they put it in a kiln hotter and longer to the point the wood actually turns that dark honey color of koa. The cool thing is that the wood loses its ability to reabsorb water content and wont shrink or expand due to climate change all without the help of stabilization via resin. Might make a killer knife handle. At the same time wilson combat is more known for its tactical influences. If wishing to go on that direction i think shred or marble carbon fiber would keep the organic look of woodgrain yet bring it with that modern flair. Just my thoughts. Mind you i dont think regular cf would be a good match. But marble or shred woul look amazing and each knife would have a unique signature just like wood.

Thanks. I was told that they wanted wood for the handles so synthetics are out. I have not used roasted flame maple. I will look into it.

I really love the look of snake wood :) . it mite be a good idea to pick some woods your self and do a pole .

I can think of several woods that would look great, including your original Koa. Other exotics like Honduran Rosewood, Cocobolo, Bubinga would look good and be durable if finished right. If you want to stick to domestics but still get character I agree flame or curly maple would be good choice. I also like curly or crotch Walnut, which is the preferred for high end firearms.
Could you do half and half?? Half done in flame/curly Maple, which would be lighter color, and the other half curly/crotch Walnut, which would be dark. Buyers would then have option of light and dark handle.
Just my 2 cents.
