WHO"S INTERESTED????

I have a line on a large quantity of Cold Rolled Annealed 5160. It comes with mill certs and is really nice stuff. It is all.230 thick. I wanted to put out some feelers and see who might be interested in some before I buy it all.

I'm probably interested. Any clue on the other dimensions?

Probably 1/2 - 1 sheet depending on price and shipping.

The dimensions I am going to be able to get are .230x7"x96".

I will probably cut them in half to make shipping easier.

The final price is going to depend upon how much I am able to afford to buy. I have about 2400 lbs that I think is going to be available. The bars at 96" weigh just a bit over 44 lbs each.

I am also interested if the price is right and the shipping to NC isnt too terrible, I would think if you offer it up in 4-24" pieces you may be able to ship it cheaper, Id bet the cost of cutting it down would be cheaper than the extra shipping for a 4' vs 2' box...just a thought, I know I wont need anything longer than 24" as that is all I can get in my HT oven, lol.

Thanks for the input everyone!!

I am working out the details right now.. I will hopefully have a price together by tomorrow!!

O.K. everyone, here is the deal...

I got the certs today and this is not exactly what I was under the impression it was. This is what is called, "single pass hot rolled annealed". What that is is that it is actually hot rolled and then run one time through the cold rolls. The steel has been annealed and pickled so there is no mill scale. Just a nice dull steel color. The dimensional area is square. It is nothing like the 5160 steel extruded for springs, with that rounded edge. All of the contents are right at the top of the chart for 5160. It really is nice stuff. I have hand rubbed 5 large blades from this stock and yet to find any inclusions. That is not to say that there won't be any on the next five. But that could happen with any steel.

The certification is as follows:

C .5900
Mn .8000
P .0100
S .0020
Si .1800
Al .0380
Cu .0400
Ni .0300
Cr .8300
Mo .0200
Sn .0030
V .0040

The steel was manufactured by Blair Strip Steel Co.
In Pennsylvania U.S.A.

I am still going to try and purchase the steel if there is enough interest.
The price will be $4.65 per pound + shipping.
An 8' bar weighs just over 44 lbs.

Please let me know if you are interested.
