Collins Bush Axe - Identification Information

I wonder one other thing. These brush axes with kerfed axe handles, do they all have straps or are these strapless axes which obviously must be wedged?

In that 1938 True Temper catalog that someone kindly posted yesterday, the page with bush hooks shows three types of handle attachments:

- Strap Eye
- Single Axe Eye (presumably Single Bit with wedge)
- Riveted Single Axe Eye (showing two rivets in the illustration)

I guess a picture of the Walters version I have is in order sometime soon, Square_Peg. The strapped versions of brush hooks are not in need of a wedge. The oval metal eye keeps the blade and handle (whether kerfed, wedged or not) in position and aligned (snug or loose) and it's the strap that keeps the whole shebang from flying apart.

Exactly.

I'm too busy right this second to grab the picture, but my 1951 North Wayne Tool Co. catalog also calls them bush hooks.
