A recent thread re Colonial brand knives reminded me that I had a Colonial with some very large numbers engraved on the blade. I have owned the knife for a couple of years and purchased it from someone who knew nothing of its background.
The knife appears to be unused and is a fairly standard 3 blade stockman style of average quality and finish. I have asked a few people about the numbering and the only comment I have received that seems credible is that the knife was part of a display set used by a sales representative and that each of the knives in the set would have been numbered for ordering purposes.
Does anyone know if this might be the case or could there be another explanation?
