Hi everyone. I've been dealing with back injury and had no internet at home for a few months so I wasn't able to get back to this thread until now.

I sure missed seeing everyone's Colonials and sharing my new finds.

I will be getting caught up and posting some new pictures here over the next few days. See you around!

Brian

Brian, sorry to hear of your back troubles. I hope you are completely healed and totally restored very quickly and that those problems never return. Good to see you posting today and I look forward to your new pictures soon.
Happy New Year!! -James

Great thread which I missed the first time around. Thanks for all the pictures and information, B. Mauser.
Here is one of my favorite Colonials, a Roy Rogers model which was introduced in the late 1940s, along with a corresponding catalog cut.
Perhaps the original "Soda Scout" ? :)

Here is a before shot of my latest Colonial advert Barlow. BERKO Electric Heat with address on the back side. Needs a bit of TLC.

I picked up a couple more Barlows off the bay. I still need to clean them up before they go in the box.

Hi Ed. Very Cool! That safety award is a neat old one. I think you are going to need a bigger box soon. :D

Who's ready for some College Football? Picked up this Colonial Ranger in support of them Dawgs!

Hi GASOUTHERNBOY. That's an interesting one. Can't say I have ever seen a college football Colonial. Its a model 933 Stockman made from 1075 carbon steel.

Thanks for sharing it with us!

The stainless red one is pretty new- say 30 years.

Hi scrteened porch. Nice to see you still posting Colonials my friend.

Thanks for sharing your Red Neck with us. :D Someone sure had a sense of humor at Colonial. :)

Here's my first and only colonial ( made for SABRE USA ) which I pecked up for 50c at a yardsale this summer

Hi Jolipapa.

Thanks for stopping by with that very clean Model 942 Barlow. It looks new.

Hi Herder. Welcome!

That's a very clean Roy Rogers knife. Good post. I am working on a page for my website about this very knife.

Colonial called it the Model #826 Roy Rogers knife.

I have one of these too. Mine is black on the back. What color is the back of yours? The same? I have 2 model 826 Davy Crockett knives. One has an orange back, one is purple.

My Roy Rogers Knife.

I really like these old cowboy and western themed knives Colonial did. I want to get the #826 Texas Ranger too.

Hi Hickory n steel. What a great deal. I would have jumped on that too.

This one Colonial called the model# 2005 5 function utility. Its made with 440 stainless steel. The belt punch instead of the old leather awl tells me this was made in the 80's or 90's. Very interesting to see it as a contract knife to Sabre. Ive seen several different models contracted by Sabre now.

Thanks for posting it.

Here is a new find of mine. An old easy open jack in cracked ice. This one has a curved tang stamp and I believe its from the late 1920's.

So you're saying that this particular function is considered a belt punch by colonial ? I was trying to find out exactly what colonial intended thus particular tool to be as it didn't really seem like your traditional awl.
BTW the backsprings are carbon steel, and it's a model 842 , Sabre USA also had another of the same model number which had a slight tool variation.

Very nice examples and the back side handle of my Roy Rogers knife is black.

Here is the Ranger knife, the front is cool, but the back side is almost better with the Morse code shown. :)

Yeah that Morse code on the back is the best part. Very nice collection herder!

Yes, sometime in the 80's Colonial changed the leather awl to what they now called the belt punch. I have seen the belt punch on Forest MAsters and Swiss Master utility knives.

I am not familiar with the real Swiss army knives but I wonder if they have this style belt punch and Colonial modeled theirs after that.

Ok, Carbon steel makes sense for the springs even with stainless blades and tools. Thanks for the model number. Is the model number on the knife?

Here is a catalog that shows Colonials version of your knife, the 2005.

Yes the model number is stamped on the back of the main blade.
And no Victorinox does not have this particular function on any of their models, that's why I couldn't determine exactly what it was supposed to be.
I really love that flourist model as its basically a copy of my Victorinox gardner.
I really like my knife, but I wouldn't want one of the 4 layer models as this one is bulky enough ( Victorinox models are usually thinner and more pocketable )

Hickory n Steel, that was the second colonial I have seen with a Swiss Army Knife can opener, until the brochure above. Never have found out if Colonial had a license from SAK or just copied them? John

Colonial used this can opener on the Forest Master too. Here is a picture that shows 3 Forest Masters with 3 different can openers. One is like the SAK opener.

I like that Colonial flourist too. The Victorinox gardener is the only Victorinox I have and its great. I have never seen a Colonial flourist for sale but I sure hope to find one someday.
