For all of you who got the chance to read my review on one of Colonials new knives (the one they send for free when you e-mail them your address), I have finally got a quick minute to post some pics. Those of you who downloaded thier PDF file catalog know what the knives look like but those who didn't don't want to download a big file to check it out so here are some pics with my moms pos digital camera (I will have better pics taken with mine when I have time).

Here are pics of the lockback and of the new bone handled trapper I recieved.
I will have a review of the trapper up in about a week after some testing.

Hey David,
Check your link please.
It took me to never never land.
Thanks

   ........

That's not the correct Colonial website address......

But, I agree that's a strange signature line to post here. LOOKS like advertising... :grumpy:

DavidBinVT....what's up with that?

Bill

You can get to the site by colonialknifeCOMPANY......com.....as well. I just didn't want to post the link until we heard from David.

Bill

PS.....
Larry, how was the trip to Never,Never land? Hope it was better than that singer's place in California......Michael something or other.....

David needs to take a deep breath and be sure that he obeys the rules here.
This is a manufacturors forum that Schrade has sponsored at B.F. and it is not very respectfull to post what he is posting here, or for that matter anywhere on B.F. if his intention is to advertise. I also doubt the objectivity of a review from a person who sells the line that they are reviewing.

Looked at the Colonial website catalog, and apparantly they sell knockoff Spyderco and Emersons as well :barf:

David, I'm the cowboy that reported your post to Bastid. I am disappointed in you, for although Schrade is gone, this is still Uncle Henry's forum. We have no moderator, we police ourselves. Kinda vigilante justice.

SORRY, I am very sorry.....I am "trying" to become a local rep. thought maybe you guys would give me wishes of good luck or something. I appologize for any possible spam type thinking. I am just a colonial fan who has asperations of becomming a local rep and I am trying real hard to make it happen (positive thinking). Colonial is sending me these knives to give my honest opinion on them, being thier knives versus the competition and I personally think they are real good....I have tons of knives, case, boker, scrhrade most importantly and I thoutht you guys would like some first hand looks and thoughts. Once again I appogize for the sale rep tag, just wishful thinking. Steve and Rick at Colonial have been gracious in helping check out some of thier product and I am helping spread the word.

Bladeforums is a great place, I have been lurking here for 5 years almost now and I dont' want to cause any hostility or lose my name, I am very sorry for any confusion.

Just me,
David

Please don't be diappointed in me, I only have a dull ache in my heart because of the lack of Schrade being in business and I was trying to get you interested in a Company that never really got any recoginition or decent publicity. In the whole time Colonial has been in business I have never heard say "Colonial, yea I have heard about them..."

I just want them to get a fighting chance and I guess I am trying too hard, said the wrong things and stepped on some toes. I am sorry, yes it does appear that Colonial does sell some "red" items and they look like copy cats but I try to look past that and focus on what they do make here in the US and the quality that they strive to deliver to the public.

Anyways please accept my condolences

David

Accepted David,

The point is that these companies directly support this site. It is not fair to allow companies and individuals to use the site the same way as those who directly suport Blade Forums. I can understand your excitement and wish you nothing but the best, but please understand that this site is not to be used as a free ride for product promotion.

Understood Bastid, would you still like updates on thier products and reviews when I write them or would you rather I post them in the review forum. I figured since Colonial is now repairing Schrade knives I thought you would like to keep tabs on this company and how it's products compare to others. I won't advertise so to speak anymore, I hate SPAM just as much as the next guy and I didn't want you guys to think of this as such.

David

David,

You need to edit your posts to remove the sig line stating you are a Colonial sales rep. when you are in fact, not.

David,
I for one am glad to see your writting. I thought it was excellent.
I was the one whom started this thread and was happy to see your review. I haven't gotten my free knife yet but thats besides the point. :)
I had remembered you saying in a past note that you did not represent the company and a clue to me that you did not infact work for the company was the bad link. I was, as most of us do in here, teasing you a bit.
So if the rules say no advertisement I think just getting rid of the sig line will make everyone happy.
I wish you luck in landing a rep job. The knives do look nice and the company has been around a long time.
For Schrade content the little wooden lockback looks an awful lot like the 5OT and the Camillus. If your up to it I would love to read a comparison like I did with the 152's on these knives.
Thanks

David,

Let's see if I can make things a little more clear.
Reviewing a product that you are associated with business wise on a sight that you do not support is not a good thing at all.

Put your wares in the hands of an independant reviewer (maybe in a passaround) and then you might have something.

Ok guys, I removed the signature line....as I said, wishfull thinking. Hey let me talk with them and see if they would like some passarounds going on with thier products like you mentioned. Is there someone on here that is usually in charge of it or would I start it? I am not making any biased opinions leaning torwards Colonial, since I am kinda new to them (thier new products) and I am opting to compare them to what already exists in the market place. I know it does seem odd me reviewing for a company I might be working for and it doesn't sound right but I love to write reviews and love to share them. :) Thanks for your thoughts and opinions guys.

David

Thanks David,

Take a look at the passaround forum. There are several ways to do it.

In the mean time Ken brought up a good point that this thread should be moved out of the Schrade Forum.

From free knife offer to passaround?

IS there going to be a free knife in my mailbox or not?

If not, please advise so that I quit watching for it.

Regards,

Thomas
