Review Colonial Prov USA and Imperial Ireland Camp Knives

I sure do miss the days of digging through bins of pocketknives at the pawn shops, to weed out the baddies and choose a good one, instead of having to analyze seller's pics online.

And the > $0.⁷⁵ to $1.⁰⁰ pawnshop prices on the Imperial R.I./Ireland and Colonial shell knives. 😊

///sigh/// ... "Those  were the days ..." Likely gone "forever" but not yet forgotten. 😇

I don't often buy new Case knives. But, when I do, I always check with the local feed mill around the corner to see if they have the one I'm looking for in stock. It brings back some of those old timey feels from when everything was just a little bit simpler.

I must say, for the price, I'm quite happy with the Frontier Imperial Ireland medium stockman! It needs some work. I already filled the clip kick. I might try to thin the blades some and/or kink them to prevent some fairly severe blade rub that prevents some blades from closing properly. But again, for the price, can't complain!

Now to just pick up a colonial barlow!

Some of the tabs were protruding quite a bit and I pushed them a little back into place so they are more flush.
I wonder if it didn’t fall apart at one point and someone reassembled it. I had an old Imperial I had since my teen years fall apart on me maybe 10 years ago. Like an idiot (nothing changed there since…), I threw it out.

Very interesting theory! I wouldn't be surprised and wonder if that might explain some of the other "defects" of the knife. I put defects in quotes, because in all honesty I'm just nit picking. Even the springs, as proud as they are, do not present any serious functional issues.
