Have fun, Colorado is great! Take a ton of pictures, and use your knives well.

Have a great time! Camp, camp, camp, and camp! I wish I would have camped and hike around more when I lived out there. My only advice would be not to try to see too much.

Hey Tex, Glad you had a good time in our wonderful state. How did you like our dry air? Sure beats humidity.....as I'm getting ready to leave for NY!

Very cool! That stream looks awesome, I love areas like that. How was the weather? Looks kinda chilly.

Have fun! Next week my family and I are going to WY to play around at Yellow Stone and the Grand Teton National Parks. :D

TTD, great pics. Colorado has some great country for camping. Now lets hear how the RATs performed.

BTW that RAT7 isn't stuck in a rock is it:eek: ?

Bear Creek as in Bear Creak Lake Park? Littleton/Lakewood area?

I believe so , my wife sister setup everything, she lives south of Denver(sister 1st camping trip)and the weather was hot mid 90's and cool in the night but i still slept on top of my bag; beautiful area, trails to hike and was not to rough the women could not handle,Rat-7 chopped up kindlen and started a fire with my firesteel, hotdogs were on the menu, had a great time and i have alot of pictures just did not want to flood the site:D , i could have set by the stream for hours listen to the sounds of the stream and looking for wildlife.:)

the RAT-7 is stabbed into a root stick'n up from the stream, i was looking at the pic and she looks stuck in the rocks huh? chopped kindlen with easy and no problems I packed the RAT 7 & 3 but I found myself using the RAT7 more around the camp site and the rat3 for food prep.Iwas very please with my knife selection and the RAT line up is great for me. :D

Tony, I just received my RAT3 a while you were on your trip, and I used it on a quick overnight camping trip with my 5 year old. I had along a Busse for the larger stuff, but I really liked how it handled for food prep and smaller tasks.

Did you test out the D2 vs. 1095 on the firesteel? I don't know for sure, but I'd guess you'd get a better shower of sparks with the 1095. I only have the 1095, but I think you have both right?

Right, I own both and the 1095 showered down a pretty good spark, the D2 did also to me my opinion is 1095 did a bettter job but whether you owned the 1095 or D2 both throw some good sparks and I would pack either one on a trip but I liked the 1095 a tad bit better spark wise...

I hope he got a little further out of town than Bear Creak Lake :o

Sorry BM, taking 2 women that has never been camping + I did not set this trip up ,It is a starting point to break in the wives + kids, I had fun, I know it was not way out into BFE but with kids and inexperianced women who have never been camping it was a great trip to break them in,if you get to rugged right off of the bat you have people who never been camping hate every minute of it and that is no fun + I like my wife & son to enjoy our family time and the next trip will be a little further out and so on ...:D Family time is what the trip is about and it meant a lot to me, we as a whole had a blast and my wife & son want to plan another this time in TX and I'll go alittle further out, just like it turned out they had fun and they want to go on another... Bowie M , do you have a family? your smiley face embarrassment, sorry you did not understand the meaning of the trip,Family, I have be going with buddies into BFE but it is time to share my outdoor love with loved ones instead of them hearing about all the fun I had on previous trips into BFE,why should they stay home it is summer break/vacation for all and 14yrs of marriage and 1st. actual vaction we've enjoyed together outdoors,KISS "Keep It Simple Stupid" 1st outing & letting them slowly evolve and let them catch up to me and my experience of the outdoors. Just enjoying nature no matter the location :D !
