any one knows what is best materials for color the epoxy?they color must be stay longer and mix well with epoxy?

I prefer using colours from the fibreglas industry.......very concentrated colour in a resin base that mixes well with epoxy.

I just walk into my local fibreglas supplier and check out his display of colours intended for gel coats.

I use acrylic paint. A drop or 2 works real well and the wife does some painting and has every color under the rainbow.

Thank you, Patrice!

Acrylic paint, such as artist paints in little tubes, or something else?

edited to add that I didn't notice the picture of the tube above.

are you talking about water based acrylic or enamel (the kind made with solvent)? I was thinking about ways to do an inlay and thought about coloring epoxy to fill in a groove. I have tons of paint around, I'll definitely give this a shot. I can order real pigments from work but they're a pain to mix.

Thank you,I will try acrylic paint, easy to get.

What all would you use colored epoxy for? 2 things that come to my mind are for making your own laminates (or mycarta) and making mosaic pins with colored centers.

Or to "hide" small gaps between scales and tang for example. Just color the epoxy close to the scales color and voila, instant perfect fit. ;)

I have heard of using Rit dye like the stuff used for clothes it comes in a powder . I have not tried it yet but plan to give it a try. Steve

i use fine saw/grind dust from handle material works well to match the wood if you want to do that.
