coloring no class brass

I like brass I think it accents a lot of woods and horn.
I would like a way to darken it a little.
Don't want a paint on but something like an etch or antiqueing.

I like brass, but, what do I know, I like solid color dymondwood

On the knife below I used http://www.reactivemetals.com/Pages/rmspat.htm patinas with some baked on Hoppes #9 gun oil topped off with a few coats of Mothers California Gold. I've carried and used the knife for a while and the patina looks the same as when I finished it, just a little darker yellow on the shiney parts.
