Multiplying two or three blade styles by three or four color options in popular models, and any of us who attempt to keep at least half the line in stock are in SKU hell.
Bear in mind that there are a lot more people out there who do not own even one black-handled one-hand folder, and have no idea what that thumb motion is, than there are who own so many black-handled one-hand folders that they want something different!
Nevertheless, I'm one of those jaded knife people who covet folders in something other than "ninja black." I agree that something other than "primary colors" would be nice. The grey Matriarch looks good to me. Forest green, autumn gold, and autumn red would be nice. Or look at the colors that people commonly wear as clothing.
And there's a place for hot pink and emergency orange.
Perhaps what we need is a folder mechanism that can be disassembled easily, and is sufficient fool-resistant for dealers to carry blades and handles separately, so that we wouldn't have to say "No, I don't have the flat-ground VG10 plain edge with the navy blue handle, but I do have it in burgundy or grey, but I just got one with a navy handle with the dendritic cobalt sheepsfoot! Oh! You wanted that in D2 . . . "
Spyderco does offer a selection of all-stainless models, of course, and clear anodized aluminum is nice. Of course, Benchmade probably didn't discontinue the clear anodized Leopard Cub because it was a hot seller.
