Combat grade and firesteel

Have you tried striking the ferro rod with your choil? (If your knife has one).

P.s. following what others said about the saw. The saw on my victorinox throws the most aggressive spark so if you are carrying a Swiss army knife with one I'd recommend that.

I have a SAK living in pretty much every kit, rucksack and knife sheath pouch that I own. What I do is grind a slightly dished edge at a very shallow angle onto the bottom edge of the large screwdriver/bottle opener blade. The slight dish helps to keep the blade in place on the firesteel and it works as well as the saw, or anything else I've tried.

Saves having to carry something extra, ruining blade edges or slicing myself up (even done that on the SAK saw).

I was about to sand off the coating but decided to do a test first. It turns out the butt of the CG ams can be used as a sticker with the coating on. It runs off a little of the coating on the very edge but is still very functional and the wear is barely noticeable after a couple of strikes.
