combat khukuri

I would have suggested a sirupati , however I just got a new HI balance.....

Again, IMOHO, the CS "Kukri" is pretty f*gly...

*SNIPPED*

Not to mention it's much thinner and flat ground. Both these factors mean it continuously binds when chopping... I don't think it's zone hardened with a slow-water-quench, either. I've been told it's little more than a bent machete and is much harder to use.....

And the quality is nowhere near what can be approached by a structurally sound HI Khuk!

When will the knife manufacturers learn? The Germans at one point tried their hand at producing Japanese katanas with their finest steel; needless to say, it didn't work. The Japanese, just to flip the coin, tried to copy the extreme watch segment occupied by the likes of Patek Philippe... So far it hasn't worked, although I've heard that there are one or more Japanese apprentices currently enrolled in Swiss watchmaking schools.

With attempts by Cold Steel and others to emulate the khukuri, the kami can only be flattered; if they knew of the futile attempts of others to produce "their khukuri" they would know that nothing quite beats the stuff that artisans make. Thanks for your reflections! Dan

I picked it up today after a brief browse through it.
Looks promising.

I'll check into mail/shipping options

(??? do you know what is best compromise of fast & cheap?)

& be in touch by Email.

Thanks.

Khukri for combat? I dare say any one you pick up! Who's going to argue with you with one of those in your hand? To be honest, it is going to depend on what sort of style of swordwork you practice. The Chinese sabre techniques I use will work fine with most khuks.

As a fellow 'short arse', I can go along with the recommendations for the 12inch Ang Khola. Lovely knife. The 15 inch version wont provide any problems either and will do pretty much anything you could ask for in a 'camp knife'-and a bit more. I have a brace of them, including one by Bura which I got from a ******* antipodean former member of this forum. He made an almighty mess of the edge and I havent gotten around to trying to rectify that. A good few hours worth of work there...
