I just got my spec ops combat master based solely on the massive amount of praise ive been hearing about them on the becker subforum. it came today and i am disappointed to say the least. I guess i had expected this to be my new favorite sheath, and i was let down. First off, let me say the construction is great, its well made and seems durable as hell, but, i dont see it usefulness, (i thought it would be a useful sheath, one that i could use for all types of situations) but the front pouch is SMALL, tiny, wtf do you use it for? carrying pencils? perhaps a fruit roll up? what the heck can fit in there that is of any use that isnt in your survival tin (which doesnt fit in there btw). second the "jump-proof" strap is just dumb. I know that it needs to be adjustable since its a universal sheath but the velcro setup pushes out on the handle too much and even just standing there the sheath flips behind me, i want a straight hanger, not for the end of the sheath to behind my knee and the handle sticking in my pocket. Finally, and realize i bought this for my 2, it seems too small for such a hefty knife. My ten fits in it ok, but the 2, uh huh. I dunno how guyon and moose like theirss for their bk2s, but to me it seems like the the 2 doesnt balance well in the sheath, too much weight above and not enough inside. Anyway thats my mini review. it sucks that i just got it and dont like it, i guess itll be up for trade in the exchange or go out for a giveaway, i dunno. pics below

That is most certainly true. I just feel bad taking a work of art on the 48 hr survival trip. I plan on getting real dirty

I'm not making these things for people to look at. I wanna see 'em get used!! I'm sure most people that make things wanna see their stuff get used. Just toss a small tin in the pouch and it will be fine. And then post pix of it being used. :D

I like mine. The pouch on the front is sized for a Beretta magazine. I also use a leg tie down, so it stays put.

Hate to hear you didn't like it.

But, its better than some other sheaths that are out there. :D

Amazon has these in the 'shorty' at a good price but they can't ship til September. I ordered one yesterday but after reading your mini-review I'm gonna' cancel the order. Planned to use it for my new BK10, but honestly, the green sheath that came with the 10 seems serviceable to me and I will use it til something better comes along.

Thanks for the tip!

Yeh tons of people love em, I guess I expected more. And I've seen alot worse. What id really like is a thicker version of the camillus that came with the 10. Better fabric/construction, place for my tin and firesteel and lots of lash point for other stuff. I like to kit it up, so I was let down

The BK2 is a tad handle heavy, the spec ops is better at keeping the knife in the right position than the stock sheath IMO but not that much better. I was a little disapointed when I hung my BK2 on my belt for the first time and un-snapped it, the whole rig filpped upside down. I switched the stock sheath out for an old Semper Paratus sheath I had that was just collecting dust.

I use a spec ops to carry my favorite Busse but I also use a thigh strap like Moose.

You can see my BK2 in the Semper Paratus sheath in this pic. Huge pocket, room for two survival tins.
I took the webbing off the stock sheath and attached a small piece of scrap kydex to the tip of the sheath and secured it to the SP sheath.

What is the name of that awesome joy to my eye?

Gen 1 ESEE 5 sheath.

The Liner is hard cast plastic, and a new coated BK2 won't fit in there, stripped it will. But, you can take the liner out of the Spec Ops, and put it in there, it works just fine. Or just strip your BK2.

Dale used to have them posted on his site, he has them in Black, OD, and Tan, last time I looked, but the OD's were dwindling.
