My first knife was a CRKT Doolittle with a 2.75 combo edge. 95% of the time I used the straight edge, or more. For a blade smaller than 3.5 I would not go back to a combo edge. I just never found a use for a combo edge. With being said, a firefighter buddy of mine swears by 'em. He uses his to cut wire, especially helpful when inside a burning building and stuck in the wire used to suspend drop ceilings.
