"Come Up With a Contest" Contest

Could we have a contest about a contest to come up with a contest? Add some more layers to this, stir things up.

Step 1: Watch The Matrix trilogy.

Step 2: Watch Inception.

Step 3: Present yourself with a contest at home to see which contest you want to post in the contest contest.

Step 4: Enter another dimension, ideally the Sixth.

Step 5: Post your contest-contest-contest from there. Be sure to start the post, "Greetings from the Sixth Dimension."

Step 6: Get drunk with tradewater in the Fifth Dimension on your way home.

Step 7: Wake up in a morgue.

Step 8: Flip a copperhead at your kayak buddy.

Step 9: Check Bladeforums to see if your post actually made it.

Step 10: Shave GUNYON into your hair.

I got most of that. Its a good thing my chest hair is now gown back. Its like a fresh chalkboard to shave GUNYON into.

I'm so down with the IPRL.

How about a contest for the best unintended use of an obscure object. E.g. the bike inner tube for a ranger band or handle grip. It would be fun to see what other obscure items could be used for. I call dibs on using rabbit poop, sticks, and fishing line to make an abacus for emergency bushcraft math.

There's a fair amount of new peoples around here so we could do some repeats - I enjoyed many of the monthly challenges. Carving a fork was one of em - maybe carving something else instead? I also loved the shelter building one where you had to sleep in it, but I don't have the location or time to do it at the moment. Some folks do though, it'd be fun to see that one again. I dunno. What about go out on a day hike and take pics of edible plants you find and educate the forum/yourselves about what you find? Perhaps a make a salad challenge using only edibles from the wilderness. Cook meat and cut with Becker for becker content and protien goodness.

Yeah, I think we need roughly 12 monthly contests that can be repeated annually. Winners can be logged over time in a sticky. Getting your name on the board would be one reward, regardless of any offered prizes. Plan it out now once (a bit more up front work) instead of going through all the overhead every month.

I totally agree with this!

Winner winner chicken dinner.

I asked Ethan to pick from among the suggestions, and his take was: "I think Captain Airyca has a good idea...... let us do a shelter and overnight...."

So it has been said, so it shall be.

Captain, you won a folder. Send me shipping info.

I'll get the shelter/overnight contest up and running after this weekend. Prize for that one will be a BK-5.

Oh my goodness! Well thank you to Guyon and Ethan! I'll get that info to ya ASAP. Now, to save the blade for the baby I'm growing, or to greedily take it for myself? Decisions....

Can we do a burn out bowl/goblet contest too? Or is it to late to add/ask for that one?

Bush craft a Becker, with the same Becker. The bigger more complex knives score more points. Runner up gets the wooden Becker. Kind of stupid I know but just a thought.

A shelter contest sounds great. It's all mud, snow and ice here right now so things could get interesting. Count me in!

Maybe you could do something with transients, Transient knife fighting or some such. Give two transients each a blade and they could duel, winner takes both knives. Maybe you folks could flesh out the details, I'm not gonna front like that is my strong suit. Seems like it might thin out the transient population . Kind of a twofer.
