Anyone out there still read comics? I grew up with the X-men and Batman, and gradually caught on to Dark Horse's movie line (Star Wars, Aliens and Predator) and the Image universe (Spawn and the Wildcats). Took a comic book art class when I was 15, went to the Philadelphia comcion, and was hooked. Discovered independent comics like Poison Elves and that was it for me. Walking Dead was a blast. Spent way more money than I had, up until about six or seven years ago, which is when I poured my paycheck into blades. Still read comics, have a couple boxes which are going to be donated. I still like some X-men and Batman stories, like Dark Knight Returns and Weapon X. A co-worker attempted to explain what had happened with my favorite characters, Wolverine and Batman, and my eyes began to glaze over.

I've been sticking with the Hellboy comics, when they come out, and the whole Hellboy/BPRD/Lobster Johnson and Lord Baltimore mythos. They're the only ones which catch my attention.

Got into some manga and anime, but other than Ghost in the Shell and Akira, I didn't delve into it. My baby sister really likes it these days. Giving a lot of stuff to her.

I stopped at my comic book store last night, and took a look around. Absolutely nothing interested me. The only comic I am looking for is the out of print trade paperback X-tinction Agenda, an old X-men collection. I couldn't've cared less.

What do you read? If you read the funnies, think comics are stupid/childish, know all the artists and writers who have graced the pages of Superman or just get the comics and seal them up, hoping you'll have the next collectible? Use them to test the sharpness on your knives? If that last one sent shudders down your spine, you might be a comic geek...

I like the ones in the Sunday newspaper. My favorites are Pearls Before Swine, Dilbert and Pickles. Especially Pickles. I can relate to the old man. :D

I used to be a big comic book kid. My house burned down when I was in highschool and burned my collection of thousands of comics at that time. Bummer. I don't read comic books anymore, but still love the Marvel movies based on the comics that I read when I was a kid (Can't wait for the Avengers).

I still read Dilbert and Dr. Rex Morgan every day (so boring it is addictive)

love Dark Horse comics, and subscribe to a small handful of them from my local comic shop.

also, even tho the series is finished, I really love the Preacher comics. I own the entire series and go back and reread them every couple of years.

and in that same vein, I also love and own the entire Fallen Angel series, and reread it every so often. Be warned, Preacher and Fallen Angel are ADULT comics! not porn or anything like that, but definitely not intended for children.

I don't have any subscriptions, but I do pick up the occasional trade. Atomic Robo is one of my current favorites and I'll read just about anything by Warren Ellis with Transmetropolitan being the old standby.

I was a Captain Marvel fan until the publishers got sued out of existence due to copyright infringement violations in the early fifties. Seems Captain Marvel was too much like Superman. The immortal word "Shazam" was what Captain Marvel uttered to summon his super powers.

The Sunday comics found me absorbing the images and words of Smoky Stover up until 1973. That was always a favorite along with "Bringing up Father" with Jiggs and his long-standing gout problem.

Damn I'm old!

I don't read comics, and never got into them that much, but have a few from when I was young.
I have the first issue of Wolverine from 1982, and the first 3 Battlestar Galactica issues from 1979. Don't know anything about the value...

Back in the early 50's, I bought my first magazine subscription -- to Tarzan comics.
Years later, I could still threaten your miserable life in ape language! :p
Recently got the DVDs of all Johnny Weissmuller's Tarzan movies.

Edgar Rice Burroughs rules!

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight"

Peanuts is what I have read most of. I guess I am a Sunday comics type of guy. I used to love Wizard of Id, Tumbleweeds, Mother Goose and Grimm, Calvin and Hobbs were always good for a laugh. I think Drabble was the pre cursor to Homer Simpson, it was never my favorite. I do not read them anymore, I was not good about reading the morning paper.

I remember the Captain Marvel show from TV. It and Isis was on I think Saturday mornings. Great cheesy tv for kids (and Isis was gorgeous)

I literally learned to read with mom showing me comics; Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck....
As an adult I never lost the interest. Even at age 65, I get the new Dark Horse iterations of the Buffy comics, and I have shamelessly downloaded the Watchmen graphic novels, various "adult" comics (including the excellent Jungle Girl comics penned by Frank Cho... Award winning art).
I dabble in art and have always liked comic art.
I also enjoy several web comics; primarily the (also award-winning) "Girl Genius".

My parents never let us buy comics; we had to make do with the newpapers. One of my favorite things was to go with my grandfather to the barbershop; becuase they always had comics on the rack to read. I never cared much for the super-heros, but SGT Rock and Easy Company, the Haunted Tank, and Wierd Tales were my favorites.

I think it's because of the limitation of newspaper comics and the habit of reading books that my tastes tended to the historical serials. Prince Valiant, Steve Canyon, Buz Sawyer, Captain Kate, those were my addiction. To this day I have bound copies of many of them. I enjoyed a lot of the other stuff, and remember when the Silver Surfer made his appearance, watched Dr Strange chase his destiny, and even got to read some of the more popular stuff as it became more mainstream.

Strangely, my favorite cartoonist (that I've met) is Bill Mauldin. His military cartoons hit a soft spot; probably because I've been in similar situations.

I stopped reading comics in the '90's when everything started looking like Leifield and every issue had six "variant" covers. Picked it up again when the Avengers were redone and Weadon started writing th X-Men. I currently follow all the Cap and Avengers titles, Buffy, Hellboy/BPRD and Powers.

Buffy; Season 8 was very good. (0ne of my subscriptions, actually)

also really love Calvin and Hobbes

I was a big Marvel comic fan as a kid.I quit reading them when I could'nt get 3 for a buck.

I just got a large hardcover JG book. Incredible artwork. Also picked up another Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell, but he does individual pieces rather than a story.

I just reread all of ERB's Tarzan books on Project Gutenberg. Very enjoyable reading.
