Coming Attractions

Superb work! Bawanna
Thank you

Thank you Auntie, Irene took it to the post man today. (why does an Elvis song suddenly enter my head) So hopefully there about Wednesday or Thursday latest.
Ready for another batch whenever the need arises.

I did some fitting and finishing on the Bowie Antler project. I'm a bit biased but I think it's turning out pretty durn nice.
I'll post some pictures in the morning, kind of used up today.

Supposed to be some Bowie pictures here, where did they go?

Even fits in the original sheath until I can get some Pugs masterpiece done.

Probably gonna round it off a bit, trying to keep as much of the original outside of the antler but it's rather square and a tad bulky looking. Feels awesome but looks bulky.
There's a duplicate picture in there but gosh durned if I can make it go away.
Phone pictures and technology, just too much for this Missouri Dirt farmer.

That is beautiful. I have one of your engraved, rehandled knives where the handle also looks too square, but it is very comfortable to hold. I'd keep the original antler skin, as you have done.

Nice to see we are getting some antler involved. I'm still waiting to get a handful and send to Yangdu from local hunters. Apparently there's a solid Lymes Disease tick problem at a lake nearby so Deer season is officially year round for now. o_O

By adding the guard up close to the cho, the blade from front of guard to tip is just crowding 3 1/2'' which makes it completely legal here in Washington and most other states except probably California (nothing legal there I don't think) and Texas if you call it a bowie.
Technically it was legal anyway as the cho is unsharpened (of course) but some don't see it that way.
I also don't care too much, I used to carry the 10'' bowie everyday until the micro's came along.
That was a great day, I love these things. Nice that we have two kami's and no doubt other than can do such a great job on them.
Bhakta the original maker still makes them now and then for HI and Ram Lal who made this one has got talent too.

Barring a few cities and/or counties with their own specific rules, any fixed blade of any size is legal to carry in CA so long as it's not concealed. You can carry a 10 inch bowie all day long, but don't you dare put a 1 inch bladed neck knife under your shirt... CA is weird.

Last I looked, in my California town the legal maximum blade length was 2.25". My Giant Chitlangi Bowie by Bura is 25" OAL and 55 oz. This is the kind of modification I'd have to do to carry it around here:

The good news is, the weight would become more manageable.

Sort of loses the flow and balance though. Much lighter to carry though, I agree.

Funny I was fondling my Giant Chitlangi Bowie last night along with a few others.

Had to of course check and make sure I still had the bestest curved spine and I do. All is good.

Fondling a few a held my Trisuli Gaule and I think if I had to choose one as my all around over all favorite, that would be it.
The weight, shape, balance and semi fancy villager finish just blows my dress up.
Course that's like picking your favorite child too,

Very nice craftsmanship on display there, Bawanna. You done good. Maybe I should send you a katana blade we been thinking about hammering out to handle for me in a non-traditional way this time around. Been thinking about 176 layers. On another note, you need a white tail antler care package?

I never turn down antler care packages. I just sent a big box of Elk Antler in a care package to Yangdu.

Long as you keep hammering I got your back. With # 400 finished I don't want your hammers getting rusty ya know?

Speaking of which you ought to post some pictures here of # 400 for you loyal fans to enjoy.

That bulky antler handle bowie is just perfect the way it is.... for my sasquatch hands.
It sure is a looker.

Auntie in Reno.jpg

Just testing a bit here. Posted this from my computer without any outside help. I think I have it figured out.
So long photobucket. It was real and it was fun but it wasn't real fun.

I've been posting images from my own computer. Apparently they get uploaded to storage on the Bladeforums server. However, for someone like Yangdu who posts hundreds of photos in the course of a year, she would soon run out of the limited amount of Bladeforums storage. She could delete older images to make room for new ones, but then people who want to browse through past postings would not see the older images. The benefit of using links to an image hosting site (other than *&%$! Photobucket) is that hundreds or even thousands of images can be stored there for long periods of time.
