Coming back to basic and inexpensive knives after years of buying latest stuff....

Actually, I don't feel Traditionals are that 'basic' ;) They're complex in their variety, form and above all aesthetics.

I've got a job to tell one Modern from another;) the colour sometimes helps:D

A relatively inexpensive knife, but as good as any I've ever carried... A Wright's Rosewood Lambsfoot. You say as good a knife as you've ever carried and relatively inexpensive. That my friend is the true definition of what a knife should be. An affordable working knife/tool that a working man and outdoor person can comfortably carry in their pocket. No bells or whistles, just a good hardworking knife.

They are in their own right, but I believe they're simpler than modern folders.
Modern folders have to spend a long time in the design phase merely for their looks, they figure a knife is a knife so the most important thing has to be looks because it better not look like something else or you'll be facing a lawsuit.

... nothing of my likes coming from GEC in 2019...

The 2018 forum knife from Buck is spoiling me for 1095. I'm impressed by how much longer a shaving sharp edge lasts. I want more tasty high-performance steel. It might be time for a Euro-Barlow or the Cold Steel Stockman.

I've got one of his Viper EZ opens and I like it a lot. The only downsides are that it's a little small and it only has one blade. I really like having a blade with a straight edge and one with belly on the same knife. The Euro-Barlow is in the same boat, although the two-blade version that's coming has my attention. I did a little searching of the internet last night and now have a Ranch Boss inbound. I can't believe that I actually ordered a knife from the company that advertises their knives as suitable for "covert deanimation activities". We all got such a kick laughing at them when I was into modern knives. Too funny. I think I read that these were actually made by Queen, so fingers crossed on the F&F. Certainly the prices of good-quality traditionals are excellent compared with comparable quality modern knives. Making the switch has given me the idea that $100 for a knife is cheap. That's resulted in me spending more, not less.
