Commander neck sheath ???

Hello all- I recently saw pictures of a great kydex neck for the Commander. It's a simple kydex sheath on a piece of cord and it holds the Commander in the closed position. The cord runs through the sheath in a way that when you pull the Commander out of the sheath the wave hits the rope and the knife opens. Has anyone seen this ? I looked on the Emerson website and they don't have it. Does anyone know ?
Thanks, Donald.

Would you believe I have one hanging around my neck as we speak. Just picked it up at the Post Office twenty minutes ago.

Man, it "Pops".

I have it under good authority that there will be Commander and possibly SOCFK models available at the SOF Show.

Is there much interest in these? (I have mine

P.S. According to the instructions, it will work as a belt sheath as well.

John, are these from Emerson, or somewhere else? For search and rescue, or in my case aircrew stuff, this is a must have (it would be perfect with the new SARK).

Yes, where can we all get one.

I think I need one for my commander, one for my SOCFK, one for my . . . . .

Well, you get the idea !

Ark, nope. L.E. Aviation. I'm an urban warrior all the way...none of that camping stuff if I can avoid it.

This is not an Emerson product, they have thier own sheath that works great. (I can't find it on thier site or I would provide a link)

The Emerson designed one works via a small hole in the side of the sheath. This one has a piece of paracord that activates the wave as it is drawn. I like that if it gets worn, you just replace the cord.

As I mentioned, I understand that these will be available in a couple of weeks, at the SOF Convention in Las Vegas. If your not going to be there, email me and I'll see if I can hook you up with the dealer that will have them. I think the price will be around $40.00 plus shipping Note: This is not meant to be an Ad! Really! Ya'll asked

Nyeti, I'm sure they will be making them for the SARK when they come out.

I'll have mine at the show if you want to check it out.

It's definitely made for the 2000 style, thinner, Commander. But my '98 works fine, just takes a little more of a tug to get it out.

While the neck carry is cool, the belt carry shows definite possibilities. I imagine it wouldn't take much to rig it to a vest or harness (Chalker style sling).

I don't think I'll recommend a "Thunderwear" style carrier though.

Must have one for my ES1-M's.

John do they have sample (ES1-M) to mold from ? My hunch is not.

No, sorry I don't (not yet anyway

). Get with me about it at the show and we'll see what the dealer can hook up.

John,

How much wear do you think the kydex will put on the blade-thumb wheel and clip when just worn about and not continually drawn?

I know that kydex is hell on finishes a lot tougher than Black T. What do ya think?

Ben

Probably little to none. The Kydex holds the knife in one position. Now drawing it may cause minor wear, but then the thumb wheel on my regular carry Commander is about silver anyway from a couple of years of carry in my pocket.

As per a couple of requests, a picture of the sheath used on a belt. (No, I didn't lay on the scanner)

A little bit of Kydex, a little bit of para cord, a heat gun and about 45 minutes in my basement and I have a Commander neck sheath just like in John's pictures. It works too
