I love them both. Two knives with great handles. Easy opening, too. The Commander is pricer but appears to be perhaps somewhat better made - correct me if I'm wrong. Just personal preference? Which would you want in a "gunfight?"

Hi!

In a gun fight i'll bet on the commander!
Why? have i been in many gunfights?? nope, not a single one, but it feels right

Although I am not a big fan of fixed blades, I know that they are the fastest knife available today. However, I do know folders. The fastest folder is the Commander without any doubts. I do not own one, but I have played with a few. As soon as you pull it from your pocket, it is open and ready. A truly magnificent idea from Ernie.

having owned and used both, I would have to go with the M-2 AFCK.

For Self defense, nothing opens faster than the Emerson Commander, hands down. However, for an overall use knife I still have to stick with the AFCK, due to the great performance it has given me for many years.

All the knives in the world go round and round, round and round, round and round...DAMN, one of them took my wallet !!! :)

IMHO there is no way to really answer this one. The AFCK and the Commander each have their own strengths and are both at the top of my favorite daily carry rotation. If I'm carrying one for a few days and I pick up the other, I remember how nice it is and I start carrying that one.
Presently I'm carrying the AFCK, but as I write this ................................. presently I'm carring the Commander, but who knows in a couple days?

The handles are equally comfortable for me, they both have stong locks, but I would choose the AFCK because I don't always enjoy having the Commander snap open out of my pocket with the wave feature. I don't want to file off the wave, though, because it's fun to mess around with, but I also don't want to have the blade shooting out of my pocket in public.

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the foolish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brothers keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay me vengeance upon you." Akula57, I also have both the Commander and the AFCK M2. I think both would do well, but the Commander is definatly faster to deploy. I carry multiple knives daily, and the Commander has been in my right-front BDU pocket the last couple of years. I've had to learn to pull the knife out with out automatically snapping out the blade, not too diffiucult just takes practice (and saves the pants).

I think both the Commander and AFCK fit the hand well, in different ways. The reverse grip definately feels better with the AFCK. Not sure about a solo-folder carry...(I usually carry my Sebenza for solo), the AFCK rides better in Civi's and I think is a better utility blade (shape and M2).

Definately a tough choice, that's why I have both

Hey Akula,
(shameless promotion ahead)
If you're at all interested, I have a large AFCK for sale. It has an uncoated ATS-34 blade; handle and clip are excellent; lockup and action are secure and smooth; minor usage scratches on blade. It has been kept shaving sharp.
