Commander sure is a big knife

Went to a Gun Show today, looked at a Seratted Comander for about the tenth time. Kept saying to myself this sure is a big knife. The more I carry my Left Handed CQC-7, the more I want another Emerson.

But the Commander is a very intimidating size. Let's say I am on the fence.

Pennypincher, I agree. It's a big knife. I'm carrying my 7 right now. I do think I need a Commander because it is an iconic Emerson

Take a look at the mini before you buy one. The Commander was a bit larger than I like to carry, but the mini is great.

To each their own. My EDC sweet spot is a 4" blade. Wish they made a super JG and Bandito.

One of my favorite attributes of the Commander is that it is on the large side but I find it carries small in the pocket due to the shape of the butt of the knife.

The mini is an ideal size. Still a good size knife, despite It's name.

Agreed about the "mini". There is nothing "mini" about most of the "mini's". I don't do the office thing anymore so I don't mind a little more girth on my knives. It's good to have various size knives for any need that arises. Sometimes a larger knife is nice to have at hand. Spice of life.

The commander is a good size in my opinion. But if you want just a little more room in your pocket the mini works great as well. I rotate between the both depending on my mood. As of right now the full size is getting the pocket time.

The Commander has become a average size to me these days. I can see how one that is used to a 7 can feel the Commander handle being big. That will change quickly once you have it. I can understand your limited to options due to left handed requirements so no mini's. There are times where I wish my 7AW was available in a super size since it feels small for sometimes.

I don't find the Commander with a 3.75" blade too big and I've had mine since 2006. I can see some people preferring the Mini Commander with a 3.4" blade or in some areas with restrictions using the Micro Commander with a 3" blade. My EDC-1 has an even smaller Commander blade of 2.625" but it's a multi-tool so that's fine. The Commander line is kind of wide so there's pocket consideration.

I originally baught the commander and carried it for six months. You get use to it and it fits in pocket quite well, but I also came from a zt 0560. Then I got a mini commander, as soon as a started carrying that one the regular commander felt big. It must just be a mental thing really. However, I think the mini can do just as much as its larger brother. Just depends on what I'm doing. If im going on out in slacks and a button up I'll throw in the mini but casual gets the big one for sure. Been toting the SNG dgg lately though.

I have to have a Left Handed, I got the CQC-7. It is a knife I love, but I still lust for another Emerson.

Commander to me is much larger than the Seven, JMHO.

The Commander is a flat knife and carries fine. Compared to another well known hard use recurve, the hand (and pocket) filling ZT 0200, the Commander feels svelte in the hand or pocket.

I agree, but must add the CQC-8 the other most iconic EKI model.

Get the cqc 10. Also an iconic knife and left hand friendly. I like mine.

After carrying a 7 a while and now having the commander I was surprised how slim it is in pocket.

It is a large knife but to me it seems slimmer.
