Comment on my survival kit!

Maybe a hat to keep your head dry. I agree with others,spend the $10 to get a decent starter compass. I would hit the thrift shops for a stainless pot to boil water with,also swipe some salt and pepper packs from a fast food place. If you plan to make anything out of wood get a mora for making delicate cuts. Unless you have no bugs where you live I'd buy bug repellent.

I use a hell of a lot more hairy string [cheap jute stuff] than I ever do paracord. Paracord is all funky and good to have but often it has properties that are overkill.

I don't know if it's already been mentioned or not, but the jute can also be cut into pieces, frayed, and used for tinder.

A few things that I would add for sure are a 1 quart water bag/SS cup, chlorine dioxide water tabs, 2x3 signal mirror, rescue whistle, and 50"-100" of duct tape. You need the water tabs to clean the water and a bag or cup to carry/drink it. A whistle and mirror are a must for signaling for help/rescue. Finally there isn't anyting that duct tape can't be used for.

Your kit is not too shabby. A couple things that I personally would have would be;
a sewing needle(that fits your smallest cordage)
safety pins for quicky fabric repair
a microfiber pack towel(for drying off quickly,MSR is what I got)
Total~10 bucks maybe 15

Lots of different great ideas, maybe a metal coffee can that had a wire bail put in it, a couple 55 gal. contractor bags the heaviest you can get, 2, 1 gal,2, 1 quarts zip lock bags.

maybe some triple antibiotic ointment w/ pain relief. helps on cuts, scrapes, blisters.

Fishing line, and some lures, hooks.

2 , 2 liter bottles, one to drink from as the other distills water.

Yard sales, the dollar shop. thrift stores, keep on looking, stumble across some bargains and makes something work for you in a different way.

Hope you have fun on your trip.

I'd recommend a good baseplate compass and topo map, if you're savvy with their use, as good navigation is the most important outdoor skill imo.

I'd take along at least 1/2 a blue foam mat. I know you said you'd make a bow bed, but cold ground can be suprisingly.... cold. :) Doesn't hurt to take it and a 1/2 length will only weigh round 120g.

Get that mole skin stuff(?), it's that bandage that comes in a roll, it wraps up very tightly and sticks to it's self. It's like $6 at fleet farm. Also, I'd get fishing line and hooks, the weight and bobber can be made outdoors.
