Anyone care to share a bit experience on the KATZ knives, notably the Lion King series in XT80 stainless steel?

Andy

I'm also very interested in the XT80 steel.
The KATZ K-302 Lion King feels and looks very nice, but I need more info on the steel before I can make a choice. Can't find any info about it.

How is it in comparison to the VG-10 steel
of the FÄLLKNIVEN A1, most importantly the rust resitance.

You can get an idea from this thread, a review over time of a Katz folder.

If at first you don't succeed, go buy a knife.

On a trip to Arizona I decided to stop by Katz to check out their knives. Of course I couldn't go by without bringing one home with me. While not in the custom knife class, they do import a very usable knife. I would put them the the same class as the Buck knives. Fit and finish is rather fine. The steel is a bit on the hard side and it takes a bit of work to put on a really good edge. However, when you get that shaving edge it will stay for a lot of cutting. As with several factory knives, I think their prices are a bit on the high end. My knife is kept in my truck for a good utility tool. If it gets stolen I would be mad but not as upset as I would be if it was a good custom knife. Overall I think if I had it to do over again, I would go with a Greco knife.
