I am thinking of adding an EDI Genesis 1 to my collection. I would like to here from all my forum friends on their opinion of this knife???

I just gave mine away to a good friend. (NOT because I did not like it but because I did!) Very well built knife with great deep pocket carry. They are very solid and make great users.

I've had an EDI Genesis 1 for a couple of years now. It is not my EDC, but then I like to rotate my folders. I very much like the blade profile, the size, and the low pocket carry, but I have found it more difficult to open compared to my other folders. Also, it is a liner lock, and I prefer the Axis lock or a frame lock, although my copy passes the white knuckle test and the spine wack test okay. I have heard of unintentional closures with this model though. All that said, I do carry it now and then, and it has performed well enough to carry again.

The EDI is my "dress" knife. If I'm wearing a suitcoat, and want something largish but not obtrusive, I keep that in my pants pocket. It rides low, and is an otherwise great knife. It is a little tougher to open than some, but not significantly.

EDI Gen I is very good. Blade design is good, blade material holds a great edge. Fit and finish is well done. There was one on the bladeforums exchange for $60 or $80 this AM. Jerry Lockert, the owner, builds a good knife, nice size, liner lock on the ones I have seen is solid, one of the best clip mount point/placement avl, black finish is good, and his customer service is tops. Some of the earlier builds had some blade wobble, but thats easily r/r. 636-532-7118 is their latest number.

EDI is trying to resurface in the market with some new models after a year of changes. Buy one, you will be pleased.
