I agree with insanity that is should run well on propane. There should be no conversion needed beside changing the inlet to a propane hose fitting.
Just a note, however -
It may have ran on 2PSI from a 1" pipe. Propane is usually delivered to a forge through a 1/4" hose. That makes the pressure needed higher to deliver the same volume of gas. I would guess that it will run on 10-15 PSI propane. Depending on your shop setup, you might even want to consider hard piping it from the tank regulator with 1/2" pipe , copper tubing, or a flex gas line.
The plate should tell you all that you need to know about it.
Unless it is too expensive, or there is some other problem ( like chamber size), it should be fine for knifemaking.
