Community Ban hammer

I have a suggestion, it may be extremely improbable:p

How about a community ban hammer for the extremely foolish.

Maybe require about 10 or 15 votes for an individual from other members and there needs to be merit. Obviously moderator approved.


Just a thought.
 
We get that all the time. Some thread gets crazy and members begin calling for his head. As long as moderators get the final word, what's different?

All it adds is torches and pitchforks and an unhappy troll. Or trolls, when we close the thread.
 
Actual difference.. None.

Would it *feel* nice to give some one the boot? Hell yes Lol

Most people usually end up banning themselves in the end so it just a matter of time usually.

Some people that used to be here on BF have gotten banned on every knife forum on the internet except one, and had to start their own forum just so they would really have someplace to post. ;)

People don't get banned like that everyplace because they are good people. ;)
 
I agree that they ban themselves but damn it would be gratifying to feel like I chipped in on it :D

I agree there's some really annoying and even infuriating people out there (and in here :D) but banning is in the end a sign of weakness I think. And on a forum like BF, the good guys outnumber the bad by a really large margin, so use the majority and have some fun: pile on the trolls and verbally kick the you know what out of them. Not possible on a moderated forum of course, but fun on an unmoderated one.
 
Hoo boy! I read the thread that prompted this, and boy, that guy is at it again! How many times has he run afoul of the mods with his hostile, embarrassing threads, and the negative attention he has garnered!

I think the mods do an excellent job keeping things in line, and that "ban by mob" would be a disaster, but in some parallel universe BF, with a Community Hammer, no doubt that member has been hammered.

Yeah he is completely delusional.... That's the nicest way I can put it...
 
Imagine if we could vote to ban someone...that would be pretty awesome.I know its never going to happen, but hey at least I suggested it.

Undoubtedly, it would be a disaster. I would certainly enjoy voting idiots of the island.

You do you realize anyone could be subject, right? Far be it from me to agree with marcinek, but I'd rather put my trust in the enlightened dictators that are the mods than in the mob they rule over on this forum. :eek: Democracy is just a big word for mob rule. No, it would not be awesome.
 
Well, I haven't seen any rules about being poorly informed and obstinate, but I have seen rules against habitually insulting members....so I guess I'm not sure we are talking about the same person

Oh well..that's what I get for posting while watching the game. :) Gonna focus on the late game. Stupid Bears.
 
I understand, I know its improbable, and would be a disaster. But it was more of a voiced thought, as sometimes some seriously delusional people pop up.

I agree that this is a terrible idea! Why is it that some people strive to have unlimited control over others??

What would it be like if in every forum ten to fifteen people could just group together and vote to ban everyone and anyone that they didn't agree with or just labeled "extremely foolish?"
What would happen is that every forum would be taken over by certain groups of members looking to control said forum as their very own and membership as a whole would plummet as all forums would end up being just a bunch of little facebook sites with only the elite class being allowed to post.

Just let the mods do their jobs and trust that they will also rein in other mods who may start running amok.
Just my humble opinion.
