I thought this might be of interest. A young man in a small town near me working on his Eagle Scout badge took on the project of developing this forge for an art and craft center. He had a lot of very talented people working with him and this is the result. I have been a stock removal maker for over 20 years and although intrigued with forging, never gave it a try. I spent 9 hours there on Saturday in a basic smithing class and I'm afraid I'm hooked.

WoW, Thats alot of work! It came out awesome too. I love the forge and bellows. Gotta Love the Scouts!

Maybe the first project could be to replace that chain link gate with a cool forged one. Post a pic of it again if they do?

Great looking forge. Maybe I'll get one like it some day. Propane is cleaner ...but...It's fun to forge in coal.

Welcome to the addiction Gerry! From the looks of it you've got a darned nice forge to work in as well. Give that scout a solid pat on the back from all of us!

I hope he got his badge!

That looks great, I've been wanting to do something like that here for a couple years now, not sure how to get started though...

The forge coucil group I'm affiliated with has the use of Fort Toulose's smithy. We will hold a meeting/demo during public events there. We kind of alternate between someone's better equipped shop and doing demos there. We view it as a way to attract people to the craft of hot metalworking.

Big hat off to that scout, that's a great facility for people to use.
