Greg, I haven't done any dowell cuts yet. I forgot all about them actually. I've gone through quite a bit of rope, 2x4, card board, and paper suspended from a string. I've been really happy with it, but I really wish I had more time to take full advantage of the size limit. I have a feeling you guys will be able to chop circles around me 
. I measured the blade last night and it is actually shorter than I remembered, it came out to 9.375" on the dot.
