Been a while since Ive posted one for sale, so here goes-

Competition Cutting Bowie, forged 1095 just under 15” overall, 10” x 2” wide blade, forged from 1/4” stock. Differential heat treat using clay, double tempered, convex edge, really active and bold hamon. Clip on this one is sharp too, handle is Black Walnut from Missouri. Used tubing to fasten handles for varied lanyard options. Will try and get some better pics soon, weather is bad and I dont have a light set up inside for photos. I am not a big fan of the harmon line but I will admit this one is just stunning! Fantastic knife overall, great job....

I love the hamon line, just not big on the sharpened clip, otherwise this would tempt me greatly. Beautiful work. :thumbup:
 
thanks again all, and I gotta ask... other than legal reasons why would you not like a sharp clip? just curious from a makers stand point.

I have a horrible habit of hurting myself with sharp clips, plus on the off-times I end up trying to do a small cutting chore with a big knife, it's nice to be able to get the second hand up there to help guide the cut. Plus, I just overall prefer a slightly more robust tip, especially on a big bruiser. That said, I was trying to scrounge up the cash for this one before I was beaten to it, so sharp clips aren't deal breakers for me. :D
 
ahh, i see. I cut in the very tip of my knives by hand with a diamond hone. I make sure, even on a sharp clip, that the geometry does not "weaken" the tip at all. Takes a while to cut it in by hand, but worth it in my view.

I like the lines of a slight swedge on a clip, but wouldn't want it sharp on a big chopper or camp knife so as to maintain it's functionality for batoning. If the knife was styled as a classic fighting bowie, then sharpen away.
