I took some pics of the old and new CF and thought it was interesting to compare them. No doubt the new CF is more polished.

Sweet pics !! Thanks for posting them :-) I prefer the old comp vs new but that’s my taste. That said I’m not passing on any new comp blades either lol :-)

I like them both in their own way. The new CF looks much more refined. I sure hope the V8 CF comes as nice as the DS8's have.

Yeah, the Comp Finish on that Soldier looks like something between Satin & Competition.

It would make for a near perfect user, IMHO.

Just unrefined enough to use rough, yet slick enough to shed grime and keep clean. NICE!:D:thumbsup:

Does look better. The old comp finish was no charge over coated. the new comp finish....well.....$4o more. And no complaining. Just saying. What the market will bear.

On the other hand, the CF on the SKs seems to have rougher cross-hatched surface grinding lines than anything we’ve seen before, including the BIG finish. Not sure I understand the reason for the differences or what to expect when you order CF anymore.

Full disclosure, I haven’t received my SK yet, but from the photos the grind lines look much more pronounced than other knives, certainly more than the DS8s. Like they used a coarser final grit. Just strange given that the SK is a matter more expensive knife.

Yeah, the comp finish on the SK looks great for a user which sucks because I ordered the the SK as a pretty knife that would be saved while others are used.

Comp finish was never meant to be pretty. Sometimes it's luck of the draw. If you want a safe queen order satin. If you want an uncoated knife without having to strip it get comp and take your chances.

Except that CF and Satin aren’t both always an option. Don’t get me wrong, even if it’s just an official strip job, I’d still choose CF over satin probably 9 times out of 10. Just wish I could always choose it.

Every finish is mean to be pretty in its own way and comp finish is not an uncoated knife... comp finish is a refined none coat blade that take extra step of finishing that why they charge more $$ ...

Im not a kind of sweet lemon guy and I think SK which I have bought one too , has worse looking comp finish compare to some recentcheaper model like DS8, judging from the picture tho.
