Compact/folding saws

does yours allow a swap w/ a bone blade? I'd sacrifice a little weight for the ability to have a bone saw as well

tia

Yes sir you can buy wood and bone blades. This is the one I have. They use the exact same blade as your sliding one. Well shape. The teeth on the bone blade are different obviously.

Edit: REI lists the bone blade as fine. When you order you click on the color/size tab and you can pick either fine or coarse.

one of those will probably make into my hunting pack- thanks :)

supposedly the sliding ones come in a "fine" blade as well, but I've never seen one (of course they are non-replaceable as you mention)

That Gerber Gator IS in my hunting pack. My uncle swears by them now that he's seen how fast it'll cut a pelvic bone. The regular blade makes quick work branches in the way of a climbing stand. I also keep one in my kayak ditch bag. It's come in handy clearing a path in a stream/river.

Here are the other two I mentioned before. Corona 10" folding/locking on top, Fiskar's 10" sliding on bottom.

I used an older version gerber pull that was awesome, last weekend though I used one of the gerbers pictured above and it also was pretty good. The Kershaw/bahcos are OK too, but if you really want ONE SAW TO RULE THEM ALL:

I can personally promise that you will not regret carrying this "larger" (21") saw. The saw teeth on this go through anything like butter. Ask the guys who went on the backpacking trip last weekend. Bahco also makes replacement blades for it, so needless to say combining them with a more compact saw is ideal. I haven't done it, I like mine too much.

All I can say about Silky vs. Bahco is try them both and let your friends try them both. I have yet to have a friend pick the Bahco, although several liked it almost as well. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the Bahco: I would be happy with it if that's what I had with me.
