Compact mess kit?

I started out looking for a small (under 5" in diameter) container that could fit in the bottom of my Maxpedition 12X5 bottle holder. And I still may go that way. But I was wondering if there are any stainless or Titanium Mess Kits out there that will fit in the bottom of the same bag. Something about 4.5X3. Like a little pot with lid or something. And I could store things in there and have a good mess kit to boot.
 
The Peak Solo, but larger in capacity than you are looking for. It will also fit over a Nalgene, just have to carry the lid differently.
 
REI Ti-ware .4 Liter cup fits perfectly under my Kleen Kanteen in my Maxpedition. Weighs almost nothing, has a lid and is quite sturdy!

Looked around, they had some cool stuff but nothing just right. I'm probably looking for something that isn't made.

You sure that will fit over the 64oz KK bottle. It's 4.5" in diameter

I took a look at that but it's too small for the 64oz KK bottle. Thanks though.


If anyone has seen a titanium or stainless steel mini pot with lid that measures in the 4.5 to 5" in diameter range and is 3 to 4 inches high please let me know.
 
Have you looked at the "coffee" stainless tins at Target. I do believe they are close to that size and can easily be made into a billy can. I do believe Joezilla did a write up on woodsmonkey about one not too long ago, and I know I have seen a couple on bushcraftusa.
 
what's the diameter of the bottle? might be easier to try and get something it slid into

I use a SnowPeak 700 w/ a Nalgene 32 oz bottle and there is still a little room
 
+1 on the MSR. My personal favorite when it comes to a small pot. Vented lid, pouring spout, and the lid loop locks in the upright position. Lacks a bail just to let you know.

I have the snowpeak mini solo and a stainless cup it all fits nicley.
 
I just looked up the KK 64 oz and it looks like it's 4.5" in diameter- the SP 700 is too small for that to nest, not sure about the mini solo ^
 
Not looking to nest it. I'm looking for a cup/mini pot with a flush lid that the canteen will sit on top of. My bottle holder is the 12X5 Maxpedition. The Klean Kanteen 64.oz bottle is about 8.6" tall and 4.5" in diamter. With the Maxpeds padding about 4.75" in diameter is as large as I can probably fit in there. So I'm looking for something that is around 4.5" in daimeter and around 3" tall with a flush lid so that is will utilize the remaining room. If I can't find anything I'll just get a round tin for storing drink mixes and water tabs and such. But it sure would be cool and it were a piece of cook ware so that I could still store stuff and use it to boil or cook in. Hope that helps a little better. I don't think I was descriptive enough. And thanks so far for all the great advise.

But the nest idea is interesting. That way I could have the pot, with lid underneath and still slide a tin underneath for storage, Hmmmmm. But that being said I'd still rather have a titanium pot or covered mug for storage over a tin.

Take a look at the "Tiffen Box" that they sell at Cost Plus World Market. For $10 you can't go wrong. In my earlier thread I stated it was approximately 5"X5". In looking at it again, it is actually about 4.5"X4.5" for both pots and the lid. For just the top pot, the dimensions are 4.5"X2.5".

As you can see, Cost Plus is also a cool place to buy wilderness foods. :thumbup:
