Comparative Pictures of Small & large Sebenzas ?

Hiya,

Could anyone provide me with some comparative pix of a small and large seb showing blades side by side ideally from a good many angles.

I was really sold with the small seb as my EDC knife ideal for the UK (Can legally only carry a sub 3" folder) after seeing this pic on the CRK site (http://www.chrisreeve.com/sebenza2.gif) and others elsewhere on the site, assuming the blade geometry would be the same on the small as the large.

However, looking at other websites the blade geometry seems somewhat diffrent on the smaller one to me (possibly due to angles of photos) mainly in the broadness of the tip of the blade (makes sence to me that the smaller knife would have a narrower tip, but i guess i was just hoping for a UK legal version of the large seb exactly scaled down).

Anyway,

Any input or help greatly appreciated.

here go....the top one is the small classic/regular
the bottom on is the large classic/regular

Cheers mate very helpful.

i'm assuming when you say 'classic / regular' that the model is the one reffered to on the CRK site as the 'Classic 2000' Seb and not the 'normal' seb ?

Thanks again

Hi Mindz_I,

To make things clear, the Classic has the Half-Moon notch on the
handle and the Regular has the zig-zag pattern. Also, the Blade profiles are different. The Classic has a clip-point blade style,
being the pointier between both. The Regular, while less pointy,
has a more pronounced belly.

Make your choice. I`m sure you can`t be wrong with either the Reg
or Classic.

Regards,

R.-

Ah ha cheers so by that logic,

the top one is a small classic (half moon grip) and the bottom is a large regular ? Hmm it seems to have a diffrent blade to the one on the website (still seems like a clip-point).

Yes, i much prefer the more rounded ergaonomics of the regular to the clip point of the classic. It just seems to be an almost ideal blade shape for every day tasks that it would face, and rather importantly too me it doesn't look to 'tactical' or threatening.

Would it be possible for anyone to provide pix of two regular sebs ?

Small and large together ?

Sorry for all the questions, just i'd really like to get my purchase right :)

Thanks alot for all the input and help

EDIT

DOH!!!!!!

I only just realised (stupid that I am) that they where two different pictures !!!, since they look almost identical (to exact placement of the knives on the marble) i assumed it was an error with my browser :D

So by that i see,

Top pic contains the Small knives: Classic and regular

Bottom pic containts the large knives: Classic and regular ??

If that is the case, any chance (as above) of a pic of the small and large regular together ?

Cheers

(a stupid scouser :D)

Mindz:
Check out the thread about the zulu trio. Rick Gray posted a nice picture of all three together to get an idea of their relative sizes.

Hi Mindz

I think (and I may be worng - it has to happen one day :D ) but the two picturews look like the same knives to me not small and large???

I have carried a small regular sebenza for about 4 months now ever since I received it. I now have a large classic to go with it.

The large classic is more comfortable in the hand than the small regular but I dont have the two sizes of the same shape to compare (yet anyway ;) )

Mate, I know exactly what you mean !!! I keep looking at them and to me the placement of the knives, the size of the knives and even as far as the background placement against the knives is exactly the same.

What made me think i was wrong though is the two different file names of the photos, lead me to believe they were infact two diffrent pix.

Scott dog:

Many thanks, exactly what i was looking for

:D

Cheers mate.

Just to be sure this is what i'm looking at is that two regular sebs small - large ?

(only by the logic of the previous post the half moon in the handle means the small one is a classic ???)

Sorry for all the questions i'm just really really confused and stupid

Thanks again

here are a large and small regular sebenza with US currency and British coinage for size comparisons. I hope this clears it up a bit for you... BTW the small has not been babied for going on two years of constant use and the large gets carried almost everyday too now....

I know this probably sounds a little ungreatful but any chance of a side top down view of them both (similar to the other photos that have been posted)

Btw, i hope you don't mind if i knick that photo for my wallpaper ;)

Perfect :D

Thanks again

N hey, if you just fancy snapping a few extra pix please don't let me stop you :) (the more there are the easier my decision)

Its strange that something to simple can make such an attractive package

Don't forget the 3" law only applies if the blade does not have a LOCK on it. Otherwised its treated as a fixed blade knife and the length of the blade in the eye's of the Law is irrelivant:mad:

Basicly you have to have a "reasonable" reason for carry if over 3", or if it is a fixed blade or folder with a lock of any size.

Reasonable is for sports, hobbies or work as a quick example.

Thus it would be leagal for me to use a 7" Ka Bar in work and carry it directly to and from work as well as camping etc.

Hope it helps.

Really !!???????

I was under the impression that it just had to fold :(((((((

http://www.bkcg.co.uk/guide/law.html

What You Can Carry ...
The Criminal Justice Act gives you the right to carry a knife with a blade length of 3.0" or less as long as it is capable of folding. That means no fixed blade knives.

Thats really pissed on my chips :( There's no way i'm gonna cough up cash if i can't be totally sure of my right to carry the knife.
