Comparison: Grohmann #1 VS. Cold Steel Canadian Belt Knife

Cold steel is not a "rip-off" company. When someone has a legal claim to a design, they pay them for the use of the design. When ColdSteel used Spyderco's integral clip design for many years, they paid for the privilege and ColdSteel gave credit to Spyderco in their catalog.

The grohman belt knife was first copied by the Germans many years ago. At knife shows, you can find used Soligen made copies.

Per the Grohman factory rep, their stainless is on the soft side, while their carbon is considerably harder. They sell the stainless line because of customer demand for a product that doesn't rust as easy. However, as knifmakers, the Grohman rep said they would recommend their carbon steel product as the better knife.

Cold Steel might not be a "rip-off" company, but certainly spend more time making cheap "reproductions" than coming up with their own designs.

Maybe. I still like their SRK/TM/RS/MH knives tremendously, though. I think they were original designs. I wish they were still available in Carbon V. I would love to see them in CPM 3V...

But that's just it, sodak. They CAN design and produce good products, but seem to choose the easier way more times than not.

Ok, good point. It's too bad, I really like their designs when they do it on their own.

sorry to post in such an old thread but i cant seem to find the info im looking for elsewhere. could someone explain how the belt loop on the grohmann shealth is adjustable cuz i cant seem to figure it out.
