Comparison Pics - the older M43 and the M43

I'd guess that Auntie's figure is fairly accurate, just over 2 lbs, but I need to find a way to measure it. Suggestions, anyone?

No vegetable stands in your area? :p Taking it to the post office might land you on the front page of the ny times! :D

Of course, there's a simpler solution: find the DotD ad that I bought the sucker from!

18 inch 32 ounce M-43 by Get (changa) Kami. Satisal wood handle. All fittings are white metal. Two minutes worth of rust removal time on the blade. Gorgeous rig at $100 even.

So, 32 oz. I still think that's the entire rig, though, not just the khuk.

Way to be smart about it, Nick.....:jerkit:

Go to UPS/FEDEX, or USPS, ask them how much it will cost to mail it, and how much it weighs.

The 30.5oz weight of my 18" M43 is for the blade/handle alone. The specs I've gathered for future "impression" posts of my khuks all centered on blade dimensions, thus the weights are of blades themselves. A quick check of the last couple DOTDs I've picked up show that the weights that Yangdu is giving are for the blades, rounding up to the next ounce.

Well, I guess it's 32 oz., then! But it dang sure doesn't feel that heavy!

It's all in the balance. If the khukuri is well balanced, it will feel much lighter than it is.

The Super CAK is 34.45 oz but in the hand it feels more like my 24 oz Sirupati. It also feels a little bit longer than it actually is. Strange stuff.

Agreed. A good sharpening seems to matter, as well: since I convexed the edge, it feels appreciably better-balanced (a phenomenon I've also noticed with other re-sharpened blades, when the job is done well).
