COMPARISONS.

 Aside from CS possibly hurting Spyderco's feelings with their insensitive ads , the Black Talon 2 would be my clear choice for SD over either the Civilian or Matriarch .

Stronger and better tip , lock , steel , handle etc .:thumbsup::thumbsup: Better value .

BT2 comes with wave opener , but so do the Emerson Matriarchs .

Don't know if they still do , but Spyderco used to basically instruct owners to NOT use the Civilian except in a emergency/ SD need . Warranty was otherwise voided IIRC . o_O

I like how they compare the code 4 to a kopa. I’m not sure they could have found a less similar knife. Like they both have metal handles, I guess. But it’s not likely you’d see someone thinking “hmmm, do I get a kopa or a code 4?”

I don't know how the warranty is handled, but Spyderco still calls out that the Civilian is not for EDC use.

I completely agree about the Black Talon II's superiority over both the Civilian and the Matriarch. I just thought it wasn't Cold Steel's place to make the comparison. It would be like Kershaw comparing the Zero Tolerance 0620 to the Emerson ETAK-B and highlighting how much better, stronger, and cheaper the ZT is. Everybody knows it already. Let someone else make that particular comparison.

Speaking of comparisons, anyone ever notice that Cold Steel never compares a CS model with an Emerson knife? Lynn has disparaged the chisel grind on several occasions, but I don't ever remember his mentioning Emerson by name. And there have been no performance test videos with EKI knives that I'm aware of. As a fan of both companies, I've always been curious about that.
