Comparisson

Well, spinewhack results can vary from knife to knife, depends on the fit & finish. Though I had a Vapor and it was very sharp out of the box with a handle I felt was very comfy, and the lock was stable. I simply have a little more confidence in Kershaw products over Gerber, at least at this price point. Their fine-blanked liner locks leave a bit to be desired, but I haven't personally seen one fail.

And I know this is an opinion question, but do you prefer part serrated or plain edge for around the house stuff?

Because even though I think I would find the part serrated blade way more useful, the plain edge one just seems so much easier to sharpen and maintain.

That has had it's share of debate. My Cara is part serrated, because I intend it to be a work knife, a 'beater'. My last beater was plain edge. There were several instances where I wished I had the serrations because I had cut very abrasive materials that dulled my plain edge quickly, and I still had more to cut. For all my other knives, they are plain edge.

Have you tried sharpeneing your serrated knife with a sharpener like the one you showed me? If so, how easy was it to do? Because that is the only reason I wouldn't get a part serrated edge, difficult to sharpen.

I have a serrated sharpener, plus a Spyderco Sharpmaker which has triangular rods like the dog bone I linked. Sharpening serrations isn't the most fun, going one scallop at a time, but it isn't hard.

Woah, I just realised how easy it will be to get a leek for $30 new. A TON of eBay stores have them for that much. I guess that's the direction I will go! I will probably buy it Wednesday, and post pictures of it on here when I get it. Thanks!

Cool, be sure to go with a reputable seller, there are a lot of knockoffs in the knife business. Happy hunting, I'm off to bed.

Okay, thanks, I will buy one from an eBay store, so hopefully that will help ensure it being a reputable place, especially the one I am looking at that has a feedback rating of 100%

Ka Bar Doziers............dirt cheap absolutely Shit Hot you will not be disappointed.

Byrds also, same goes!

Kershaw Storm/Storm2 equally good but a tad heavy.......depends what you want.

Gotta remention those Ka Bars tho'...................Well impressive!!!!!!!!!

Bedheadben, I've had the Paraframe II for quite a while, and let me just say, it's not something you want to have in your pocket when you need a knife. While it does open very easily, it came extremely dull, it doesn't hold an edge worth anything, and it falls apart! I had to re-tighten the screws on mine nearly every day. Loctite finally did the trick, but it's still a pain. Additionally, the clip kills your hand if you do any serious cutting. I finaly took it off. You'd be much better off getting either a Byrd Cara Cara FRN if you want it light, or one in G10 (~$20-$25)if you don't mind an extra ounce or so. Or A Spyderco Native at Wal-Mart for $40, or a Benchmade Mini-Ambush or similar. Just my $.02. Good luck, whatever you decide.

I AGREE KYP DEGAL!!

sory to bring up old thread but for ne1 thinking about gettting a paraframe
DONT DO IT

i was lured in by the cheap price after my kershaw blackout (very good knife) was stolen

the first paraframe i bought from walmart was missing three screws from the get go, but i figgerd empty screwholes was part of the design,
until the last screw walked out
then i kept retighining it, researched and found it should have more screws
so i exchanged it for one with all screws figgering thatd keep screws from walking out
a few weeks later (of constant carry and minimal use) screws started walking out
i was fed up and returned it
i will never buy anything but kershaw (or better) again
the blackout was a great knife but im looking at the cyclone now, i like the index assisted system
