This video is not a how-to video but rather scenes from the compass portion of my three day basic wilderness survival course.
The course is named "Per Ardua" which is Latin for "Through Difficulty". It is also found on the RAF crest but I got it from my family crest (Clan McIntyre). I figure since my clan is older than the RAF they must have stolen it from us. Anyway, I feel I have the right to use it since it is on my family crest and it really fits the course.
The idea of the course is not just to teach basic wilderness survival but also to use the experience as a powerful illustration of deeper issues in life. I use the challenges and difficulties they overcome during the three day experience as jumping off points for deeper discussions into the challenges and obstacles they face in life. The wilderness is an excellent classroom.
