I have just purchased a CR MK VI and would like to get a back up compass to fit into the handle cap. I would like to get a quality compass from a name brand company if possible.

I can not understand why CRK doesn't offer an appropriate sized compass ont eir list of accessories. It would be a service to their customers.

Been surfing the web. Here's a cheaper alternative, the Therm-o compass/thermometer. The 1/2" plastic compass is glued-on and easily removed. Many outdoor companies, REI and Campmore for example carry their own branded version of the compass. Surf and find the cheapest.

Call Pete at Randall Knives in Orlando and ask him to sell you a handfull of the ones they load into Model 18s. I don't have the number at hand, but go to www.randallknives.com and the number is there. He's a real nice guy and eager to help. All they do is put a glob of epoxy into the buttcap of the 18 and set the compass into it to harden. Give it a shot.

We have never offered a compass for our fixed blade knives because we have never found one of sufficient accuracy and quality.

As a general rule, a person who needs a compass will be much better served with a large, accurate one that is carried away from a solid metal knife.
