Competition Bow Saws, who makes them?

That gentle man in the VId has posted here before. I have forgotten his name/ handle, but I tlalked to him about large bow saws and they are hard to find and he said he would tke about all he could get. I think he mentioned that they may have stopped making saws like that. Pat

I've got long arms and wanted a 48" bow saw to replace my 36 incher. Looked all over and couldn't find one. One place had some blades around 42" but no frames.

A few years ago I was canoeing in the Yukon and had a layover day in Whitehorse. One of the hardware stores had a couple used bow saws around 4-5 ft. Unfortunately, the blades were rusted and worn out, and I doubt you could ever get replacements.

If I want a 4+ foot saw, I think I'll have to go to a crosscut saw unless someone finds a large bow saw source that I missed. Best of success.

The longer bow saws are sometimes also called "pulp saws", I think I don't know if that will help you find anything out about them. Pat

Thanks! I Googled "pulp saws" as well as "frame saws" and "buck saws" but so far I haven't been able to come up with anything more than "bow saws" yielded. However, I'll keep looking.

I appreciate the help,

Thanks---I appreciate the advice as much as I'm sure the OP does.

I just got back from a five-day quail/chukar hunting trip. My 36" bowsaw was cutting poorly. A water jug on the back floorboards of the extended truck cab must have leaked and generated rust on the blade. Luckily I also had a Silky Zubat 330mm, which was enough for the modest wood in question.
