This is the Lawrence bowie, name for Oliver Hazzard Perry's ship the "Lawrence."

I've got too many of my knives lying around so I figured I should move some of them.

I made this knife for the cutting competition at the SOFA Quad State Round Up.

The knife did pretty well at the competition I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

The blade is forged from 1065 .27" at the spine, 9.5" blade, ss fittings, black linen handle.

There is a small forging flaw in the blade, so I will be discounting the knife to my normal bowie price. I charge extra for a hamon and full polish. If the flaw is too much send the knife back, no questions asked.

The hamon on the piece is really nice. The utsuri is very strong, lots of ashi, and lots of depth and character.

Price is SOLD $375+shipping. I can make a sheath for it, but you will have to get in line, my sheath backlog is a few weeks out.

The knife needs a little clean up from cutting all that oil rope :), which I'll do before the knife is shipped.

Email me if you're interested, mbuswellroberts@yahoo.com

Here are some shots of the forging flaw, it is at the very edge of the utsuri.

I've handled this one in person.....and the flaw Matt is talking about is hardly anything......the utsuri far outweighs anything else the eye is drawn to in this knife.

Helluva cutter too.....8 something seconds thru a 2x4

If I wasnt saving for shop toys....I'd jump on it!

I want to buy a wheel assembly, or else I would hang on to this one. I might buy the knife myself ;).

Damn-it, I need to check this section more often! I would have bought that sucker in a heart-beat.

Well, somebody is going to be a very happy camper! :D

That hamon just absolutely kicks ass Matt!!!

Longrifle, did the sale not go thru? If not I'm definately interested. Shawn

My apologies I jumped the gun and didnt read the other posts from today.

Thanks guys :).

Shawn, yes the knife is sold. Sorry. If you're interested in ordering one send me an email and I'll slot you in.

Don't worry guys, it'll be well taken care of, and I've already promised Matt that it will see trail time. When that much care has gone into the construction, putting it under glass would be unforgiveable.

No kidding -- great snag T1mpani!"

Thanks Michael, and good to see you! I may have just been in the wrong places but I haven't seen much of you lately. One of your creations went vacationing with me not too long ago. :)

Warren

I have to say that there have been some terrific knives made available here of late and this is a prime example. Makes me wish I had more cash lying around, but then, don't we all. This was a great snag.

Thanks guys :), I've had a few people tell me to raise prices but it's nice to give people some bang for the buck, especially considering I use the money to buy shop equipment and not feed my family :).

Warren has a few of my knives, which he assures me he uses. I still don't believe it; his definition of "hard use" is opening the gas bill :). Although, that's pretty hard for me too :).

Thanks again for the nice compliments guys.

Matt

Hey now, gas bills are terrifying these days, and that recycled paper is really tough on edges! ;)

Saint, I sent you an email. To answer your question, yes I am taking limited orders. I'll probably take another one or two, I like to cut off the orders once I get three or four months back-logged.

Santi, send me an email if you're interested and I'll fill you in. FYI, I will be closing orders once I have another big bowie on the books, that should put my backlog around 4-6 months. Thanks.

Matt
